Airworks Himalaya Trips
October-November 2006
Building on our highly successful 2002 to 2005 trips, we are off to the Himalaya again in 2006! (2005 client's report)
In 2003 there were twenty flyable days out of the twenty-one we were there! In 2004 it was 33 out of 35 and in 2005 it was 29 out of 31. Furthermore, last year, pilots flew approximately 100km every single day we were there, including the days we deemed unflyable!
We have taken pilots with absolutely zero hours since qualifying... We always leave with experienced pilots!
Most of us broke all our personal bests there.
Everybody wants to go again!
All in all, so much fun that we are now taking bookings for next years trip.
This trip is split into two sessions, aimed at the recently qualified pilot right through to the budding XC hound seeking some quality instruction in the awesome scenery and benign thermals of this classic XC paradise.
All of our familiar team will be there to look after you
What's included for 2006:
Bed and breakfast, evening meals, collection and return by train & jeep from Delhi airport to Bir, transport to launch, and retrieval from XC, though you will usually find that local buses/taxis are so cheap & quick that it's not worth being retrieved and anyway the adventure makes it worthwhile!
Non-flying activities are limited only by your imagination, but this is the Himalaya!
Group 1 - 29/9/06 to 15/10/06 - 14 days flying. Aimed at pilots who can already thermal and wish to improve their XC flying. You would only need to take 2 weeks off work as the flight out is late Friday night. We'll be aiming to improve your skills by guided XC flying every day, perhaps including some of the more dramatic high altitude routes.
Group 2 - 13/10/06 to 29/10/06 - 14 days flying. Aimed at low airtime pilots. Again, only two weeks off work as the flight out is late Friday night. By the time you have completed this session you can expect to be a competent XC pilot, able to identify and use thermal lift to cover serious distances and then land safely in a field of your choosing, perhaps even occasionally the main landing field! Look upon out-landings as an opportunity to meet plenty of new friends and have an amazing travel experience and you won't go far wrong.
If you want to maximise your winter flying, we can offer longer duration or if you have used up all your leave entitlement or funds are particularly tight, we can accomodate shorter trips, just call to discuss.
We are taking 4 instructors out to India, so it means we can again offer training to suit a wide range of ability.
The cost of all this is £1260 each session, including internal transfers. But plus flights to Delhi (currently £450). Anyone who wishes to do both sessions will get a discount of £200.
Please make a deposit payment of £300 as soon as possible. Payment of the balance will be required six weeks before departure. Once you have booked you will receive a pack with details of everything you need to know, through from visas and injections, to equipment and pre-trip get together. This year we are getting direct flights from Heathrow to Delhi with Virgin. To simplify the transfers we ask that you get the same flights as everyone else. Alternatively of course, you could take flights that bracket ours and meet us at the airport.
